Now we’ve done it!

Hightek has just started its new Facebook page for our trainees, clients, friends and followers. It can be found here.

It doesn’t look like much right now, but we will be building our page to include new standards, regulations, product advisories, training programs, best practices and other industry information as we go.

Don’t forget to hit “Like” on the page to stay up to date with all we know about scaffolding, fall protection and confined space skills and safety training.

Finally! The US Occupational Safety and Health Administration has given notice that they will cancel a 12 year old exemption for small residential contractors from the fall protection regulations.

Beginning June 16, 2011, OSHA will begin enforcing the requirements of 29 CFR Part 1926 Subpart M—Fall Protection on ALL construction contractors, regardless of size or industry. Small residential contractors, including framers and roofers had been previously exempted from these rules under OSHA Instruction STD 03-00-001, Plain Language Revision of OSHA Instruction STD 3.1, Interim Fall Protection Compliance Guidelines for Residential Construction, dated June 18, 1999.

Hightek applauds this initiative, given that residential construction falls consistently lead to thousands of injuries and hundreds of fatalities in North America annually.
